Summer 2024 Financial Aid
Summer Financial Aid Eligibility
The amount and type of summer financial aid students are eligible to receive will depend on:
Having a valid 2023-2024 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on file
Summer enrollment hours
Students must enroll in a minimum of half-time (6.0 credit hours) for summer to be considered enrolled at half-time status
Students must have a completed financial aid file (all documents needed to process financial aid must be turned in to the Office of Financial Aid)
Student must meet ALL financial aid eligibility requirements
Student must have financial need (many students use all their Pell Grant and loan eligibility during the fall and spring semesters)
Student must have Pell Grant and/or loan eligibility
Continuing students (attended fall 2023 and spring 2024 semesters) must have completed at least 24 hours and be making Financial Aid Satisfactory Academic Progress to be evaluated for possible summer Pell Grant funding.
Continuing Students
Students who have met all of the above requirements and are enrolled at least half-time may email their financial aid counselor to discuss financial aid options. The student will be packaged with summer aid if the student has financial aid eligibility. If packaged, the student will receive an email notification to view their summer aid through their CobraStop account.
Types of Summer Financial Aid
Pell Grant: Students who did not receive their full Pell Grant in the fall or spring semesters, may be eligible for the remaining Pell for the summer term. Pell Grant eligible students who received full Pell during the fall and spring semesters that enroll at least half-time in the summer will be reviewed for Summer Pell Eligibility.
Federal Stafford Loans: Along with meeting all other financial aid eligibility requirements, students must be enrolled at least half-time in order to receive Federal Direct Stafford Loans. Annual loan limits are determined by class standing and dependency status.
Transfer students, be aware that the amount of Pell Grant and loans received at a previous institution may affect eligibility to receive Pell Grant and loans at Coker.
Federal Direct PLUS Loan: Parents of dependent undergraduate students can borrow a Parent PLUS Loan to assist with covering their students’ educational expenses. Students must meet all financial aid eligibility requirements and be enrolled at least half-time. Parents must apply for the Parent PLUS Loan prior to April 30, 2024 at http://studentaid.gov/plus-app/parent/landing.
Private Loan: Students may visit the FastChoice site to review available private loan options at http://choice.fastproducts.org/FastChoice/home/342700. You may require a co-signer for a private loan.
